Melting In The Light

If my devils are to leave me, I am afraid my angels will take flight as well.

Rainer Maria Rilke

Is it an ominous cloud over your head? Are you plagued with persistent negative thoughts? Could darkness really be your destiny?

Sure…a dim tunnel will be your life if you let it. Perhaps, you look too prideful and stubborn on the outside, but all that’s really happening is fear dwelling on the inside. It’s victimized you and over the years your vocabulary and perception has matched your mindset. Trapped. It keeps you small and safe while the whole time your spirit is dulling. We drift further away from the true essence of who we are: the musician, the athlete, the intellectual, the entrepreneur, the philanthropist, the mother, and so on.

You see, we get lost when we are navigating in the darkness. Our ego is the cloud and haze veiling the luminosity of our truth. I mean, what and the hell are we here to do? How can we contribute to our hurting world? What good can we bring to others? We don’t have time to sit in the unknowing, constantly doubting ourselves on how to answer these questions.

Instead, we need to let this darkness fade and dissipate. Sure, it will take some real work to let this crap go—there’s no recipe or strategic plan.

When we desire an upgrade in life, the only power we have is within ourselves. It’s a firm decision to rise above our suffering; to lift out of the anger so we can finally cut the cords to our numbing substance of choice. It’s only there that we will feel a jolt of possibility and a glimmer of hope.

Yogi Bahjan says, “When you walk toward light, you have to forget the darkness. In darkness you can’t see what you’re doing, and ego is just like darkness. It is a total cloud in which you are very limited, and you won’t make it anywhere. When you are brilliant, you are flexible, smiling and everything is just all right.”

Shine bright in who you are, and allow the darkness to fade away amongst the brilliance of the light. We cannot be afraid to illuminate our surroundings because it’s only then that we will be able to see our true path. Our soul becomes the navigator and counsels our mind to achieve our highest potential. It’s here where we can make a huge impact on those around us and it trickles into the humanity so we can feel whole and safe again.

You’ve got so much good inside of you. Give it.
