Pay Attention to Your Angels

Today was one of those doo-do-d00-do doo-do-d00-do (twilight zone theme) days. Where someone is on your mind and then they call or you’re thinking something and someone says it? Uh huh.

Well, today, 11-11 is the anniversary of the death of my grandmother. I loved her a great deal and often feel her presence around me. She sparked my journey into the invisible world.

When I was 13 years old, my mom asked me to go with her to the nursing home to tell my grandma that my grandpa had just passed away earlier in the day. We walked into her room and my mom said, “Mom, I just want to let you know that daddy died a few hours ago.” My grandma had a puzzled look on her face.

“No, he didn’t. He was just sitting in that chair by the door right before you came in.” I will never forget my mom’s face when she turned around, shrugged her shoulders and whispered to me, “Well, I can’t argue with that one.” In that moment my life changed. I gasped, opened my eyes so wide and said, “Grandpa’s an angel!”

Today, my mom and I reminisced about my grandma and the fact it was 11-11-11. Shortly after, I saw a client of mine. As she came into the room I was hit with a very recognizable scent (she never wears perfume).

“Oh my gosh, what perfume are you wearing?” I asked.
“Beautiful by Estee Lauder.” She replied.
“That was my grandma’s perfume that she wore all the time!” I said so excited.
“I never wear perfume you know and I love this one, but the top of it had been broken for years so today I picked it up and decided to try it again and it worked!” She described.

I told her how much I had been thinking about my grandma and my client said, “Well, maybe she told me to wear it for you.” I bet she did. “Hi Grandma!”

Never underestimate the power of the human spirit and what we are capable of-it’s magnificent. Pay attention. It makes you feel so good.
